This walk offers a magnificent view of the Valley of Vaux. Walking the botanical path, in a sumptuous setting, you will be able to appreciate the diversity and the beauty of the exceptional flora and characteristic of the calcareous lawn of the Côte Chalonnaise. Finding the starting point: Coming from Mercurey by the D155, cross the village straight up to a small plot. After the plot take the first street on the right and it is at the end of the street, on the car park said Bouères. In front of the totem of departure, climb facing you, rue du Clos de Montaigu. Then take the 1st road on the left. Location "Shooting Range". Continue the main path, stony. At the top of the hill, turn left. To note, presence of a cadol on your right, in the wall. At the Cross of Theu (1), beautiful point of view. Continue the path along the vineyard on the right, and on the edge of the rock to your left. You arrive on the botanical trail. Continue straight until the big stones block the way. The trail is strictly forbidden to both wheels and riders from here. Pass the stones, continue the botanical trail. From the indication "hazel", passage of the first wall of the oppidum. Three panels, on which are pictures of the exceptional flora of this calcareous lawn, have been placed on your way. The trail narrows, walk along the cliff. Variation: the most curious can venture on the right, on the wall (2nd wall of the barred spur), they can continue to follow the wall and join the marked path. Beautiful point of view on the villages of Saint-Jean-de-Vaux and Saint-Denis-de-Vaux. Always follow the cliff. Watch out for slips. The path goes down. Intersection, turn left (2), a wider path, stony, continue to descend, turn S, beautiful view of the castle farm Blaisy. Beautiful landscape of vineyards and pastures. In front of you Montabon, the culminating point of the sector, 480 m, continue until the indicative totem of the cross of the Elm. Turn left, path between hedge and meadow, always wet. Arrival at the totem of Châteaubeau, turn left, tighten on your left. Facing you, the head of the rocky outcrop, continue the paved road (left vineyard appellation Mercurey, right appellation Burgundy in the town of Saint-Jean-de-Vaux). At the foot of the rocks, the chance of plowing has revealed many prehistoric vestiges (3). Continue down this road, arriving at the Bouères car park.
