This circuit through vineyards and fields will allow you to admire beautiful landscapes towards Mercurey, Rully and the Chalonnaise plain. You will discover the Tour Saint-Hilaire which dominates Fontaines and a beautiful view of the Château de Rully. Finding the starting point: The starting totem is located Place des Platanes near the Saint-Nicolas washhouse. Leave the Place du Lavoir Saint-Nicolas and follow Rue Morantin across the fields. At the first houses, continue straight and after the farm and its adjoining meadow, you begin the loop of the circuit. At (1) take a dirt road on the left. After a few meters, follow a grassy path to the left bordered by pastures, vineyards and fields. (2) At the first houses, leave the middle path by turning right and cross the D981 a little higher at the Calvary. (3) Climb the hill on a path that climbs through boxwood to the beacon post and follow the road to the right that leads to Clos l'Evêque: junction point with Mercurey. Take advantage of the view over the plain and the Chalonnaise agglomeration in the distance. At Calvary, you are halfway there. (4) Turn right and continue due north on this section which allows you to discover the Tour Saint-Hilaire at the top of the hill overlooking the village. (5) At the Bois de Nal farm, leave the tarmac road and the view of the Rully castle to take a wide gravel path to the right. Go along the sports course and further (6) cross the D981 (warning danger). Go down the dirt road and (7) turn right to find rue Morantin taken when you left. Following it, return to the Saint-Nicolas washhouse.
