    This beautiful walk will make you discover the largest vineyard of the Côte Chalonnaise: the vineyard of Mercurey. You will go from one slope to the other discovering the hamlets of Bourg Bassot, Jamproye, Bourgneuf, Touches. From the top of the hills, the vineyard unfolds its well-ordered parcels saturating the space. A dozen interpretive tables spread along the path tell the story of Mercurey, its heritage and its landscapes. Finding the starting point Coming from Chalon via D978, take the first street on the left after the fountain that forms a chicane. The starting totem is a little higher on your left. From the totem (1), go down the street towards the town. On the D978, turn right and go to the fountain Marjonzin, on the other side of the road (2) - interpretation table. Continue on the D978 and take the first street on the left. Stop in (3) at the interpretation table of Plan d'Orge. Continue towards the hill. On the road, turn right then left and climb into the stony path that starts from the ordeal. You arrive in (4), at the interpretation table of fauna and flora. Continue on the path that climbs into the boxwood. You arrive at the statue of the Virgin of Mercurey (5) - table of interpretation and orientation. Continue on the trail to the north. You are on the GR76. Make a stop in (6) at the interpretation table of the vines. Go down the path that becomes road. In the hamlet, go straight and then right to pass the Notre-Dame de Mercurey church (7). Two interpretive tables present the church once and now - Continue in the rue du Pont Latin, to the west. Bypass the pond by the north. You arrive at the laundry (8) - Interpretation table. Continue around the pond to join the D978. Cross the D978. Be careful, very busy road. Take the stairs in front and go straight. At the intersection continue straight ahead. The road becomes path and you enter a wood. You arrive in (9) at the interpretation table of the No Target. Continue straight ahead. The trail goes up. At the fork, turn left and soon the path becomes flat. You arrive on an asphalt road. Cross and take the path in front which oblique soon on the left to follow the GR7 which goes up slowly towards the castle of Montaigu. Take the path to the left, just before the castle (private property, entrance prohibited). It soon becomes road. Continue the descent. At the crossroads, turn right and left into the path between vineyards that goes up to the church Saint-Symphorien-de-Touches (10) - Interpretive table - Down to the village by the road to the left which opens a wide panorama on the vineyard. At the first crossing (calvary), turn right, go forward for 100 m then turn left. You are back.
