WELCOME TO LA LOYERE The Municipality of LA LOYERE is located in the canton of Chalon Nord, about 6 km from CHALON-SUR-SAONE. This small town of 495 inhabitants saw its territory successively divided by numerous infrastructures directly linked to communications: • the Canal du Center • the national route 6 • the aerodrome • the A6 motorway There is also the Thalie, river during very quiet and bordered by many trees. The municipal area is characterized by the absence of a market town and the presence of two hamlets very distinct from each other and separated by the A6 motorway: • The hamlet of "La Loyère", of very low density, is located in the center of the town, enclosed between the motorway and the Canal du center. • The hamlet of "Condemène" located at the limit of the communes of FRAGNES and CHAMPFORGEUIL which gathers 80% of the population. The hiking route will guide walkers in the heart of a welcoming nature and will allow them to discover two remarkable sites: The Castle The North-East part of the municipal area is occupied by the Castle of LA LOYERE. The seigneury of La Loyère was acquired in 1580 by the BEUVRAND family. In 1845, Viscount Armand de La Loyère undertook the work which gave it its present appearance. It was after the 1945 war that it was ceded to a community of Benedictines. Acquired by the City of Chalon-sur-Saône in 1963, it now serves as an outdoor center and various cultural or sporting events are organized there. This edifice, formed of three U-shaped buildings, is confined to square towers and two identical buildings frame the main entrance, the whole opening onto a large English park. The Church The construction of this Romanesque church dates back to the 1120s. In 1940, the nave was not yet completely collapsed; it was the German troops, stationed at that time at the Château de La Loyère, who were partly responsible for the demolition, the stones being used to consolidate the paths. Today there are a few tombstones around the church from around 850. Concept Balades Vertes created and supported by the Departmental Council of Saône et Loire.
