  • La Charmée is located 8 km south of Chalon-sur-Saône. We evoke CARMEDA, parish of the term St Odilon, for the origin of the name, then we speak of La Charmée, taken from the name "charm" which means planted with wooden charms. It seems that the first populations gathered in the south of the commune (the citadel) as close as possible to the woods and ponds where the resources existed. Then, following clearings, the families settled towards their cultures which moved away…. And this is how the “Champ Rondot”, the “Château Gaillard”, the hamlet of Siena are born. Today, the habitat is grouped and, in 2014, we count around 720 inhabitants called Charmillats. La Corne, a small fish-filled river which crosses the village, takes its source at St Vallerin and flows into the Saône at Lux, after having received the Orbize. To get to the starting point, you have to go to 5 rue du Pont Larcher, in La Charmée.
