Site d'escalade - Saint-Denis-de-Vaux

in Saint-Denis-de-Vaux
  • Saint-Denis-de-Vaux is a small site with around 30 routes, used mainly by local people: families, schoolchildren and clubs. The rock is limestone with very varied strata (cracks, small roofs, slabs, etc.). The climbing is fairly technical and very similar to that of Cormot, a not-so-distant crag... The rock is relatively compact on the whole, but requires vigilance. It's worth noting that the foot of the routes is in the undergrowth and therefore keeps in the cool, which is very pleasant on...

The rock is relatively compact on the whole, but requires vigilance. It's worth noting that the foot of the routes is in the undergrowth and therefore keeps in the cool, which is very pleasant on hot summer days. You can climb here all year round, except after heavy rain, when you'll have to wait for it to dry out. The routes are fairly short on the whole (between 8 and 20m); well equipped; with a majority of easy and affordable routes. Beautiful views of the Vaux valley below. In the 80s, the easiest routes were climbed using bolts and sometimes a few pitons.
