CASTLES AND DEFENCES
On your own, with friends or colleagues, hiking in the Côte Chalonnaise is a delight for the senses: the natural landscapes of Southern Burgundy are a patchwork of plateaus, woods and vine covered hillsides.
Whether you use the small marked trails called « balades vertes » or prefer to specialise in major hiking trails using the GR...
Whichever you choose there will be no doubt, lots of favourites, for instance the “Chaume de Givry” walk. A footpath that takes you through sections of forest with a magnificent view from the summit over the Vaux valley, itself rich in nature walks.
There is something for everyone - landscapes of vines, calvarys, old stones, stony fields or water meadows on the Saône river plain. How about trying a scenic ride along one of the Green Way tracks?
Or what about trying part of one of the famous pilgrim trails to Santiago de Compostela starting at Cluny and going as far as Puy-en-Velay?
The Green Ways are an integral part of this territory and starting from Chalon-sur-Saône link to Beaune, Cluny, Tournus and its surroundings as well as the Bresse Chalonnaise.
