A poetic journey through the history of music using wind instruments.

Chalemie, flutes, oboes, doulcians and bassoons... these instruments with their sometimes enigmatic names, combined with the sung and spoken voice of Lucile Tessier, will tell you a rather special story of music.

Far from being a lecture or musicology, this is history in the truest sense of the word, a story that stretches from the earliest times to the present day. It introduces the public to ancient wind instruments by asking the question: how has breath been harnessed, used and transformed over the centuries by men and women to transform this natural ability into a means of expression? How did the breath become a singing voice, and then a means of making instruments vibrate as they were invented, perfected and constantly re-imagined?

This family concert lasts around 45 minutes and is followed by a discussion about the instruments.
